There are some battles we fight with our hands.

Others we fight with our pride.

There are some battles we fight with our hands.

Others we fight with our pride.

But some of the greatest damage we ever cause comes from something much smaller:

Our tongue.

James 3 reminds us that a small bit can control a powerful horse. A small rudder can turn a massive ship. And a tiny spark can set an entire forest on fire.

Our words can do the same.

We can use the very same mouth to praise God on Sunday and tear someone down on Monday. We can speak blessings with one breath and bitterness with the next.

But James points us to something deeper:

Our lips often betray what is hidden in our hearts.

Maybe the problem isn't simply what we're saying.

Maybe it's what we're carrying inside.

So tonight, my prayer is simple:

“Lord, tame my tongue before it masters me. Let my mouth be filled with truth alone.”

James 3:1–12

I hope this video speaks to you—not just about the words we say, but about the heart those words come from.

Before you speak, ask yourself: Is this coming from Christ… or from what's still hurting inside me?
